Surgery to the breasts may be done for a variety of reasons. You may want to reshape, resize, raise, or remove breast tissue.
Breast liftt surgery is also known as Mastopexy. This operation is done to raise and reshape your breasts. If they are small or have lost volume, mastopexy can be combined with breast implants (augmentation) to increase their size also. At CEPS, breast lift surgery focuses on reshaping and elevating the breast while maintaining natural proportions. All procedures are performed by specialist plastic surgeon Dr Adam Greenbaum, with careful planning around scarring, longevity and overall balance.
Things you need to know to help you make an informed decision:
● Most women have one breast larger than the other.
● Most women have one breast that sits lower on the chest wall than the other.
● Breasts are composed of a mixture of fat and glandular tissue. The glandular tissue (the part which secretes breast milk) weighs more than the fat so the larger the proportion of glandular tissue your breasts have the heavier they are and the more they will droop without support.
Why a breast lift or boob uplift surgery might be needed?
Breast sagging occurs when the skin and internal support structures stretch over time. Common contributing factors include pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, gravity and reduced skin elasticity.
A boob uplift restores the breast to a more youthful position without necessarily increasing breast size.
What is mastopexy?
Mastopexy is the medical term for breast lift surgery. It involves reshaping the breast tissue, removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and areola to a higher, more natural position.
The surgical technique used depends on the degree of sagging, breast size and skin quality. Dr Greenbaum tailors each mastopexy to the individual patient.
Is Scarless Breast Lift Surgery Possible?
The term “scarless breast surgery” is commonly searched online, but it can be misleading. All breast lift procedures involve some degree of scarring because excess skin must be removed to lift the breast.
However, in selected patients with very mild sagging, limited techniques or internal reshaping methods may minimise visible scarring. Dr Greenbaum will explain what is realistically achievable in your case and where scars are likely to be placed.
The goal is not “no scars”, but well-planned scars that fade and are as discreet as possible over time.
